Three days to Freedom

Today is Tuesday, June 8 2010. In three days I will (hopefully) walk across a stage in a gym with 400 other kids. After a few steps, much standing around, and even more sitting, we will step into the next chapter in our lives. Surprisingly, I feel what seems to be little emotion towards the fact that I'm graduating soon. Obviously, I feel extremely excited, but that seems to be such a predictable response, given the current circumstances. I guess it all feels so unreal. It's almost as though there's a magic portal right in front of me and I have to pass through it but I have no idea what's on the other side. I know it's something great, but it's still unknown to me, so within the context of my mind, I find myself slightly...frightened. It's a positive fear, but a fear nonetheless. I guess I'm simply waiting to pass through this portal. I want to run full speed, head first, not-looking-back, straight through it! But...unfortunately...I'm stuck....on a steadily progessing.......conveyor belt...slowly moving towards...this intangible door...to my future. The good news is that nothing can stop or slow this conveyor belt down. It remains entirely...unchangeable.

But please do not derive from my seemingly apathetic blogging that I am stuck inside of some depressing rut! I am completely content with my life and excited for what's to come! :)

On a lighter note...I did two new things today! The first: I used a ride-on lawn mower for the first time! Alright! What better way to truly indulge in the wonderful atmosphere that is Northern Idaho? I'm not very skilled with hands-on man stuff like woodwork or mechanics (two skills I plan on honing in the future), but this thing was pretty easy to figure out. It cut my "mow-time" into AT LEAST a third of what in normally takes me! The only thing I was missing was a Thomas Kemper Root Beer to place in the cup-holder. To be honest, this is one "chore" I actually enjoy now! Ah, technology! You are a pleasent dame!

Ready for the second new thing I've done today?? This is my first official blog! Woohoo! I mean obviously, we've all had our fair share of those myspace blogging days, but this is the first blog I've written on a website without the words My and Space in the URL. I really enjoy it! Let me know what you think! Oh, also I'm pretty opinionated so feel free to drop off a comment about a given topic you want to pick my brain about and I'll most likely love to speak my mind!

My name is Austin Beals and I hope you enjoy reading about my semi-adventurous and always worthwhile life!
